Walking closely to God isn’t for the faint of heart. There are so many questions, doubt and fears that creep up every single day, leaving us feeling like we’ll never measure up as Christians. In today’s video (or blog post, if videos aren’t your thing), I’m unpacking what a Christian walk looks like.
I’ll answer the five most common questions women are asking about their faith walk in 2025.

Every week my inbox and DMs overflow with messages from women who aren’t asking, “What does this verse mean?” They’re wrestling with doubts and insecurities, wondering what it truly looks like to live out their faith when life feels messy.
These questions aren’t about theology — they’re about real, everyday struggles like feeling unqualified as a Christian, worried they’ll never measure up, and desperate to know how to walk with God when life feels so hard.
So let’s unpack the five most common questions I’m getting about what a Christian walk looks like in 2025.
1. What a Christian walk looks like: What Is God’s Plan for Me?
Finding your purpose can feel like chasing a shadow — no matter how hard you look, it seems just out of reach. Many women wonder if they’ll ever hear God’s direction, especially when life’s demands pull them every which way.
Thankfully, discovering His plan for your life often starts by asking yourself a few honest questions. Let’s take a moment to break them down now.
What are my God-given gifts and talents?
Grab a piece of paper and on the left side, list activities that energize you — moments when you feel alive and on fire. When your passions and God-given strengths intersect, you’ll often find the path He’s designed for you.
On the right side of the paper, write down the tasks that leave you drained and exhausted. If an activity consistently leaves you feeling depleted — emotionally or physically — it’s probably not aligned with God’s calling for your life.
Your true purpose will energize you, not drain you.

How can I serve others in love?
We’re called to serve in love just as Christ did. As Mark 10:45 teaches us, our Lord and Savior didn’t come to be served, He came to serve.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” NIV
Start by noticing the needs in your own community. Maybe a single mom down the street needs groceries delivered, or a friend needs someone to just listen.
Wherever you see a tangible need, ask yourself, “How can I show Christ’s love here?”
What is God teaching me in this season?
Ugh…those darn trials and challenges can be so frustrating, but often times our clearest sense of purpose comes from hardship.
Spend a little time journaling recent trials and the victories that came from it. Ask God, “Lord, what were You trying to teach me in this?”
That guidance and wisdom often point to the gifts He wants us to use next.
2. What a Christian walk looks like: Why Does My Faith Feel Like It’s Slipping?
Every Christian goes through seasons when prayers feel dry and reading the Bible seems like just words on a page.
It’s frustrating when we know God is faithful, but our hearts still wrestle with doubt and uncertainty, leaving us to feel like we’ll never quite measure up as Christian women.
When those doubts creep in, there are three important questions you can ask to help stay grounded in God’s promises.

What truth am I forgetting?
The truth is, faith falters when we lose sight of God’s promises. Choose a Bible verses that resonates with what you’re going through. Then speak His truth out loud.
For instance, a Bible verse like Hebrews 13:5 is a perfect example when money is tight and you have no idea when you’ll make it to the next paycheck.
“Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with what you have. God has said, ‘I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” ICB
Where am I relying on my own strength?
Be honest: Are you trying to “muscle through” this season alone? Hey, no judgment here. We’ve been conditioned to “pull up our big girl pants” and take care of everything on our own.
But that was never God’s intention for us. He wants us to rely on Him for everything.
If you’ve been trying to do it on your own, confess it to God and invite His power into your life instead. (Remember, God is a gentleman. He won’t force Himself into your life. You have to invite Him in.)
What small step can I take today?
All too often, we lose faith because we feel like we need all the details before taking a single step. We rehearse every “what if” in our heads — what if it fails, what if I get it wrong, what if I don’t have all the answers?
But God rarely calls us to see the entire staircase; He only asks that we place our foot on the next step.
The moment you choose obedience over certainty, something shifts inside you. Surrendering the details to God isn’t about stepping into the dark. It’s about trusting that He already knows the path.
As you let go of needing every “how” and “when,” you’ll discover an incredible freedom. Instead of carrying the weight of planning, you’ll carry the joy of following Him one step at a time.
3. What a Christian walk looks like: What IS Walking in the Spirit?
Maybe you’ve heard other Christian women talk about “walking in the Spirit” and felt like everyone else has a secret formula you don’t know.
It’s easy to assume that walking in the Spirit means more rules or a perfect prayer routine. Yet the heart of it is simply learning to lean on the Holy Spirit’s guidance instead of your own effort.

Walking in the Spirit isn’t about more rules or checking off the boxes. Simply put, it’s a daily dependence on the Holy Spirit, trusting Him to lead your thoughts, words and actions each day.
In fact, here are three things you can do to start walking in the Spirit today.
Begin each morning with surrender
Before you dive into emails or grab that first cup of coffee (or chai, in my case), take a deep breath and quietly invite the Spirit into your day.
Speaking a simple prayer like, “Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts, words, and actions today”, reorients your heart from autopilot to intentional dependence. It sets a tone of surrender that reminds you He’s leading the way before you even start your day.
Check in throughout the day with prayer anchoring
Tie a simple prayer to your daily tasks like your morning stretch, folding clothes or making your bed.
When you create a spiritual habit of connecting with God throughout the day, you’re putting your focus on Him rather than your circumstances, allowing the Spirit to guide your reactions and decisions in every moment.
Yield continually to His work
When a challenge or temptation arises, ask the Spirit to help you walk in a way that honors Him above all else. Ask that He produce the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22–23.
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” NLT
Over time, His character will become more natural than your old habits. As you yield to His way of getting through the day, your reactions will begin to reflect His heart, empowering you to walk continuously in step with the Spirit each day.
4. What a Christian walk looks like: How Do I Deal with Doubt?
Doubt can be so frustrating. It can feel like a sneaky thief, sapping our confidence the moment we begin to trust God.
But in order to deal with doubt in your life, start by seeing it not as a roadblock, but as an opportunity to draw closer to God.

Instead of treating uncertainty as a weakness, recognize it as a sign that your faith needs a little help — that you need to turn to God to anchor yourself more firmly in His truth.
But I get it. It’s a lot easier said than done. So the next time you feel doubt creeping in, consider these three things.
Remember that doubt isn’t the opposite of faith
The truth is, doubt is not the opposite of faith.
When you see uncertainty as a chance to lean on God instead of proof you’ve failed, you open the door for growth and transformation. Instead of thinking, “I’m failing because I don’t have all the answers,” you can say, “God, I don’t know what’s next, but I know that you do. So I’m choosing to put my trust in You.”
That shift in perspective helps your thoughts relax and opens you to His guidance. In those “I don’t know” moments, you’re practicing trust, and you’ll soon find that you have more faith.
Acknowledge your doubts to God
When you view uncertainty as a chance to turn to God instead of evidence of your shortcomings, you, again, make room for spiritual growth and transformation in your life.
Just like the father in the Mark, chapter 9, instead of thinking, “I’m failing because I don’t think this will turn out the way I want,” you can say, “God, I believe, but help me to believe more”.
“20 So the followers brought him to Jesus. As soon as the evil spirit saw Jesus, it attacked the boy. He fell down and rolled on the ground, foaming from his mouth. 21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, ‘How long has this been happening?’ The father answered, ‘Since he was very young. 22 The spirit often throws him into a fire or into water to kill him. If you can do anything for him, please have pity on us and help us.’ 23 Jesus said to the father, ‘You said, ‘If you can!’ All things are possible for him who believes.’ 24 Immediately the father cried out, ‘I do believe! Help me to believe more!'” Mark 9:20-24 ICB
This change in perspective helps you become more open to God’s direction. Again, in those “I don’t know” moments, you practice trusting Him, and over time, that doubt will begin to disappear and your trust will get stronger.
Hold up the shield of faith
Holding up the shield of faith as found in Ephesians 6:13-17 isn’t about mustering your own strength. It’s about positioning yourself under God’s protection.
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” NIV
Remember times when God guided you through tough situations, and stand firm knowing His power can block every doubt that comes your way.
5. What a Christian walk looks like: How Do I Walk by Faith and Not by Sight?
It’s one thing to trust God when everything is going right, but it’s entirely different story to have faith when everything around you screams “impossible.”
When pressure mounts and doubts creep in, it’s easy to feel paralyzed, wondering how to hold on to faith when you can’t see a way forward. These are the moments that call for concrete steps, not just encouragement, so you can actively walk by faith.
Let’s take a moment to break down three things you can do when the weight of the world feels like it’s crushing you.

Fix your eyes on Jesus, not your problems
In Matthew 14:28–31, we read about Peter walking on water toward Jesus when a strong wind came up, and he started to sink.
“28 Then Peter called to him, ‘Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.’ 29 ‘Yes, come,’ Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong[a] wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. ‘Save me, Lord!’ he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. ‘You have so little faith,’ Jesus said. ‘Why did you doubt me?'” NLT
Peter took his eyes of Jesus and began to sink. When you feel anxiety creeping in, take a moment to pause and set your mind on Jesus. Remember His faithfulness, love, and power, rather than the storm around you.
You might say a promise out loud, like “Jesus, You are my Rock,” or silently recall a time He came through for you. This will help redirect your focus from the storm to His provision and protection.
Take small, obedient steps even without all the details
All too often, we think we need all the details to walk by faith. But the truth is, we don’t need to know every twist and turn. God already holds the full plan.
When you feel Him nudging you toward a choice, go ahead and take that step, even if the path ahead seems unclear.
As you choose to move in obedience, trust that He will reveal the next instruction exactly when you need it, whether it’s through a timely conversation, an unexpected opportunity, or quiet guidance in prayer.
Stay in conversation through prayer and worship
Walking by faith doesn’t involve just one quick prayer.
It’s about staying in communication with God, praising Him even when you feel overwhelmed.
You could lift up a simple prayer like, “You’ve got this, Lord, so I don’t have to be afraid,” during a busy moment. It’s also about pausing wherever you are and offering a short breath prayer like “Help me” when fear or stress hits.
Inviting Him into every conversation, task, and decision keeps your heart tuned to His voice. Over time, this constant back-and-forth through short prayers, quiet worship, and ongoing conversations teaches you to depend on God’s guidance instead of relying only on what you see or feel.
What a Christian Walk Looks Like
Our Christian walk often gets wrapped up in unrealistic expectations — perfect prayers, flawless Bible study plans, and the idea that we should never doubt or stumble.
But the truth is that walking with God is about learning to rely on Him every single day, even when life feels messy. It’s less about having it all together and more about taking small steps of faith, admitting your doubts, and inviting the Holy Spirit into every moment.
