Hi everyone! My name is Chris from Daily Dose of DIY, where I teach you about all things Cricut.
Tammy makes some pretty amazing (and free!) monthly stickers so today I’m going to show you how to print and then cut those stickers using your Cricut cutting machine.
It’s really not hard at all once you know the correct steps and the possibilities are endless with what you can turn into a fun sticker.
Let’s get started.
Supplies Needed to Print then Cut Stickers
Inkjet Printer + ink
Green Standard Grip Mat or Blue Light Grip Mat
Print the stickers
- Step 1
The first thing you’ll need to do is grab the free download. Head over to the FOI Community Library to grab your FREE monthly stickers. (Simply subscribe to our newsletter below and get instant access to them along with all of our FREE resources.)
Upload to Cricut Design Space
Once you have the download go to Cricut Design Space and click on “upload” file.
When you are choosing the file to upload from the folder make sure you get the PNG file. The SVG won’t work in this case, we need the PNG.
- Step 2
When you have the file and the PNG is uploaded, Cricut will ask you if your image type is simple, moderately complex, or complex. You’ll want to choose complex so that we get the full detail of these stickers.
On the next screen, Cricut gives you the option to clean up the image. And in this case, we want to make sure the wand is selected and then click anywhere on the background of the image.
You’ll see the background change from white to blue and white checks. That’s a good thing, so after that happens click the continue button on the bottom right of the screen.
- Step 3
The next screen will give you the option to save as a print then cut image on the left or just a cut image on the right. Choose the print then cut option.
You’ll see on the right of the screen you can add tags to help you find this image again. After you’re finished, click “save” on the bottom right.
That will bring you back to the upload screen where you can select the stickers and then click “insert images” and that will bring us into design space.
- Step 4
Ok, now that we’re in Cricut Design Space you’ll notice on the layers menu that the image says “cut | print next to it,” and there is probably a caution symbol too.
The maximum print then cut size is 6.75” wide. So make sure the image is selected and on the top menu change the width to 6.75 and then click enter.
Next, click the green “make it” button on the top right of the screen.
- Step 5
The next screen will show you the cut mat. We don’t need to change anything here so go ahead and click continue on the bottom right.
On the next screen, you’ll see a button that says “send to printer.”
If you haven’t done so already, load your printable vinyl into your printer tray. You may want to do a test first to see which way should go up. On my printer, I need the backside facing up so that it will print on the correct side.
After your vinyl is loaded click “send to printer.”
- Step 6
On the next screen make sure your printer is selected and that the bleed is turned on. You can also choose how many copies you want to print on this screen.
After everything is set, “click print.”
How to Cut Stickers with Cricut
- Step 7
Once your sticker sheet is printed it’s time to connect to your Cricut. Line the sticker sheet up in the left corner of either a green standard grip or blue light grip mat and load the mat into your Cricut machine.
You’ll notice a black line goes all the way around the stickers, this is what Cricut uses to read and calibrate where your stickers should be cut.
If you have a Cricut Explore series, set your dial to Custom and choose printable vinyl from the menu.
If you have a Cricut Maker, you don’t have to worry about the dial, just choose printable vinyl from the materials list.
- Step 8
Next press the “go” button. Cricut will scan the sheet and begin cutting your stickers.
After it’s finished cutting, press the unload button to release the cut mat.
Be sure to flip your mat over and peel the mat off of the vinyl sheet to help keep your stickers from curling.
Now you’re ready to use your stickers! They will peel off the sheet just like a normal sticker would.
