How to Feel More Connected to God

Today, I’m tackling a question that most of us have at one time or another: how can we feel more connected to God? I’ll share some practical ways you can experience His Presence, even in the hard times.

The truth is, God is always with us. His omnipresence means He’s not confined to any space or time. Even when we feel distant, He remains near, waiting for us to turn our hearts towards Him.

But I get it. Knowing it and feeling it are two very different things, aren’t they?

How to Feel God’s Presence

As Psalm 139:7-10 reminds us, God is with us everywhere we go.

“Can I go anywhere apart from Your Spirit? Is there anywhere I can go to escape Your watchful presence? If I go up into heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in the realm of the dead, You are there. If I ride on the wings of morning, if I make my home in the most isolated part of the ocean, Even then You will be there to guide me; Your right hand will embrace me, for You are always there.” The Voice

This passage reassures us that no matter where we are, God is there, ready to meet our every need.

How to Seek God with Intention

As I share in today’s show, feeling connected to God requires intentional effort on our part.

We can’t expect to stumble upon spiritual intimacy with our Father by chance. It’s a journey we must actively pursue through prayer.

Through prayer, we can pour out our hearts, share our joys and struggles, and seek His guidance; fostering a deep connection with The Lord. Prayer becomes our lifeline, a direct line of communication with our Father.

How to Feel More Connected to God in Hard Times

Life’s challenges can easily distract us from God’s presence.

When facing our trials and challenges, it’s tempting to fixate on our circumstances rather than turning to God for our source of strength and guidance. We all do it.

So in this episode, we’ll dig into Matthew 14:30-31 to see what we can learn from Peter about staying connected to our Father in the hard times.

Lord, Help My Unbelief: A Prayer When Faith Feels Hard

You’ve prayed about it more times than you can count.

At first, you prayed with confidence. You believed God was working even when you couldn’t yet see it. But now you’re praying about the same situation for the third year in a row.

And somewhere in the middle of another prayer, you think, “I don’t even know if I believe this will change anymore.”

Almost as quickly as you think it, the guilt creeps in. I mean, what kind of Christian doubts God while she prays?

Maybe nothing is really wrong.

You’re getting up in the morning, going to work, making dinner. You’re answering texts, taking care of the people you love and doing the things that need to get done.

And you’re even praying.

But somewhere along the way, you realize you’re going through the motions more than actually enjoying any of it — and you miss feeling like yourself.
