HELP ME GOD I WANT TO DIE
In today’s show, Sarah shares her journey with severe depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
She describes the pain from images of self-harm and suicide that run through her head. We talk about the loneliness depression brings, even when surrounded by people who love you.
Sarah shares how on one particular night when she found herself on a friend’s doorstep, their unconditional love changed the way she thought about God’s love for her.
Though Sarah has had a relationship with God for a very long time, she was certain He could never truly love a person as broken as her.
Sarah shares valuable tips to help those suffering from depression, as well as how we can help others walk through this. She shows us how we can take the shame out of depression.
I love how honest Sarah is and her willingness to allow God to use her story to help and encourage others experiencing severe depression and suicidal thoughts.
I recently learned some frightening statistics. Every year, 800,000 people die in the world from suicide. That’s one person every 40 seconds!
It breaks my heart and I believe when we strive to take the shame out of depression, we can better reach those who are suffering.
My hope and prayer is that whether you’re suffering from depression yourself, or you’re walking alongside someone who is, you’ll glean some important, valuable information from this episode.
My hope is that we reach everyone who needs help and let them know that they matter and are important to us.
And most of all, I want everyone suffering from depression to know that they’re important to God!
So grab your favorite beverage, that basket of clothes that needs folding, or turn up the volume on your morning commute and listen to this week’s show, Help Me God I Want to Die.
